FRENCH PRESS
A Full-Bodied Brew for Slow Mornings
Best For
Slow mornings
Style
Full-bodied · Unfiltered · Immersion brew
Sweet Spot
4 minutes + gentle plunge
IKKIS Tip: French Press coffee is about presence.
It keeps the oils, the weight, and the warmth that paper filters remove.
This method doesn’t chase clarity — it embraces body.
At IKKIS, French Press is brewed for mornings when you want coffee to feel like a pause, not a push.

What You'll Need
Keep it simple.- Freshly roasted coffee
- Coarse grinder
- Filtered water
- Filtered water
- Timer
- Spoon
If your grind is too fine, French Press becomes bitter and heavy.
Too coarse, and it turns thin. Balance matters.

Brewing Method
A calm, tactile process1
Grind
Grind coffee coarse and even — similar to sea salt. Fine particles cause bitterness in immersion brews.
2
BLOOM
Add coffee to the press. Pour just enough hot water to saturate (≈60 ml). Wait 30 seconds to release trapped gas.
3
POUR & STEEP
Add remaining water gently. Stir once, lightly. Place lid on top — do not plunge yet. Steep for 4 minutes.
4
PLUNGE
Press slowly, with steady pressure. If it resists, your grind is too fine. Serve immediately — French Press continues extracting if left sitting.
Taste rule: If it’s bitter → grind coarser or shorten time
If it’s thin → grind slightly finer or increase dose
How to Drink
Restraint keeps it luxurious.- Black — for full texture
- With milk — soft and round
- With a touch of jaggery — warmth without masking flavour
Warm, honest, unfiltered —
Avoid heavy syrups.
French Press is about weight, not sweetness.
French Press teaches patience through weight. It asks you to slow your hands, not just your thoughts. This is coffee that stays with you — long after the cup is empty.
