The journey of Melkodige estate started in the year 1947 on a 20 acre beautiful area brought by Alex Leo Rodrigues. Presently, it is managed scientifically by his professionally qualified grandson Aveen Rodrigues and grand daughter-in-law Yogitha, who have their masters degree in horticulture. In 2013, this estate won the prestigious AAA sustainable quality award.
Process: Natural, Fully ripe mature berries having a brim content of above 20 are selectively hand picked. The berries are spread uniformly in a thin layer, on raised wooden trays and shade dried over a period of 20 days. The coffee is continuously raked to ensure uniform drying. Once dry, coffee is allowed to rest in hessian bags for a month, for the flavours to mature.
Smooth Soul is roasted with perfection to bring out interesting flavours like caramel, Macadamia nuts and Wafer. The experience of this espresso is as smooth as listening to soul music, played by great soul singer like Aretha Franklin.
